The Shia LaBeouf Apology Tour
So Shia LaBeouf is over at Cannes promoting Wall Street 2 and he’s been letting loose how he really feels about a couple of his last big movies. Concerning Transformers 2, LaBeouf admits that they probably went too over the top trying to be bigger and better than the first one and that they lost the relationships that ground the film. On the other hand, he says Transformers 3 is going to be “the craziest action movie ever made, or we’ve failed.” He says there’s going to be tons of human deaths, as presumably the Decepticons are going to be targeting humans specifically.
Concerning his other high profile franchise role in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, LaBeouf said that he felt like he “dropped the ball on the legacy that people loved and cherished.” and that upon seeing the completed movie, both he and Harrison Ford weren’t very happy with it and that everyone misinterpreted what it was that the audience wanted. He also mentions the infamous monkey scene and says, “…you can blame it on the writer and you can blame it on Steven [Spielberg, who directed]. But the actor’s job is to make it come alive and make it work, and I couldn’t do it. So that’s my fault. Simple” He says he still thinks Spielberg is a genius (Agreed) and that he pretty owes his career to him. Kind of refreshing to hear an actor admit to the shortcomings of some of the biggest movies of last couple years.
