Steve Carell Leaving The Office

He’s been talking about it for a while but Steve Carell recently confirmed that the upcoming season of The Office is going to be his last one.  Michael Scott is one of the great comedic TV characters and this would be a huge blow to the show, in fact, NBC is still deciding if the entire show will end when Carell leaves.  I think the obvious move would to have Jim take over as manager but I think they could also try to bring in someone new or maybe even have Dwight take over.  It would never happen but something mind blowingly awesome would be to have Ricky Gervais’ character David Brent come over from the British Office.  The last season of The Office was consistent but not amazing (except for the wedding episode) so this isn’t as troubling as it might have been a few years ago, especially since Community and Parks and Rec were amazing last year and can easily pick up any slack from The Office’s departure.  Hopefully the hinted Holly return happens and those two goofballs can head off into the sunset together.
