Battle at the Box Office 11/29
Harry Potter managed to remain at the top of the box office this weekend, despite feisty newcomer Tangled. Deathly Hallows made another $49 million, bringing it’s domestic total to over $219 million. Tangled came in at an extremely close second with $48.8 million and making it the biggest non-Pixar Disney animated opening and the second largest opening in Thanksgiving weekend history. Megamind remained surprisingly strong despite the massive competition, going down to third with $12.6 million, which sounds low but keep in mind that Tangled probably stole all of it’s 3D screens. Burlesque debuted at fourth with just under $12 million and Unstoppable rounded out the top 5. Faster and Love & Other Drugs had pretty mediocre debuts; Faster came in at seventh and Love came in at sixth. The only other big mover was 127 Hours, which is steadily gaining theaters and just missed being in the top ten over the past weekend (it was eleventh with $1.7 million).
