Battle at the Box Office 12/20

Under performing based on the amount of hype and advertising that got poured into it, Tron: Legacy still took the top spot at the box office this past weekend with just over $44 million.  Yogi Bear came in and second and while he may be “smarter than the average bear”, the movie only had an average opening for the “CG Talking Animal” genre with $16.4 million.  Narnia dropped down to third place with $12.9 million and still has a long way to go to make up it’s ridiculous $155 million budget.  Having a huge weekend was The Fighter, which had it’s nationwide release over the weekend and jumped over 3,000% from nineteenth to fourth with $12.1 million.  Tangled rounded out the top 5.  Black Swan also had a wider release and came in seventh with $8.3 million.  Finally, a disastrous opening for How Do You Know, which cost an obscene $120 million to make and only made $7.5 million and came in eighth place.
