Battle at the Box Office 1/17

The first big movie of the year took the box office this weekend as the long delayed Green Hornet debuted with a $33.7 million opening.  Second place was the other new wide release, The Dilemna, with $17.8 million.  True Grit, last week’s number one, dropped down to third with another $10.9 million.  Having a big jump was The King’s Speech, which went even wider over the weekend and took fourth place with $9.2 million.  Black Swan rounded out the top five with $8.4 million.  Little Fockers, Season of the Witch and Country Strong all had pretty massive drop offs, Fockers fell from fourth to sixth and Season of the Witch dropped down to tenth from third and Country Strong dropped off the top ten completely, going from sixth to twelfth.  Not a lot of competition next week so I don’t expect a lot of change to the top ten.
