Battle at the Box Office 4/11
Hop took home the win at the box office again this weekend, making another $21.7 million. This will probably be Hop’s last week on top as Rio is out this weekend and is almost definitely going to be number one. Second place went to the remake of Arthur, starring Russell Brand, which opened with $12.6 million. It’s worse than Brand’s last movie, Get Him to the Greek but was decent compared to other movies featuring crazy rich people. Hanna took the third spot with $12.3 million and Soul Surfer took fourth with $11.1 million. Insidious rounded out the top five with $9.7 million and getting bumped down from third to fifth. With a disappointing debut in sixth was Your Highness, which opened $9.5 million and was far below the director’s last effort Pineapple Express and, maybe more disturbing, was worse than the opening for Year One. For the rest of the top ten, it seemed like the top half of the list from last week slid down to the bottom of this week’s list with things like Source Code, Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2 and Limitless moving toward the bottom of the list.
