Holy Batman News!

  • First Look at Batman: Year One Animated movie: DC had been killing it with their animated movies over the past couple years and one of the ones coming out this year is the adaptation of the classic Batman: Year One. A couple of screen shots came out this week, one you can see above and the other below.  Ben McKenzie, probably most famous for playing Ryan Atwood on The O.C., will star as Bruce/Batman, Bryan Cranston will play Jim Gordon, Katee Sackhoff will be playing Sarah Essen and Eliza Dushku will be playing Selina Kyle/Catwoman.  The movie will premiere at Comic Con this year and then be released on DVD/Blu Ray later on.

  • The Dark Knight Returns animated movie in the works: Speaking of classic Batman stories getting turned into animated movies, The Dark Knight Returns is supposedly going to get the animated movie treatment as well.  Considered not just one of the greatest Batman stories ever but also one of the greatest comics ever, DKR follows an elderly Bruce Wayne who comes back as Batman after a decade in hiding.  Gotham is overrun with gang violence and two old foes of Batman return as well.  If WB was able to push this movie to the very edge of PG-13 and keep the comics gritty, violent tone, it could be amazing.
  • Joesph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard’s Dark Knight Rises roles revealed: After months of speculation about who JGL and Cotillard would be playing in The Dark Knight Rises, ranging from Holiday, The Riddler, Talia Al Ghul and more, the actual roles are slightly less exciting.  JGL will play John Blake, a GCPD cop who is placed in Commissioner Gordon’s special Batman task force.  Cotillard, meanwhile, will play Miranda Tate, a Wayne Enterprises executive who will help Bruce resume his parents philanthropic endeavors.
