John Carter Trailer

We haven’t heard about John Carter in a while but Disney released the theatrical length trailer this week.  Based on the Edgar Rice Burroughs series of fantasy novels, John Carter finds the titular, former Confederate soldier getting transported to Mars and finds himself in the middle of the war that is raging between the various alien species.  Taylor Kitsch of Friday Night Lights plays John Carter and the movie co-stars Willem Dafoe and Lynn Collins.  The first trailer made the movie seem like a low rent version of Prince of Persia but this trailer aims more toward the Avatar side of things.  Some of the creatures look interesting but the movie just doesn’t seem that interesting or original to me and I think Disney is going to have an uphill battle trying to convince audiences that it isn’t an Avatar knock off.  They also seem to be thinking that his movie is going to be a blockbuster but, and I could be wrong, it seems like an incredibly obscure property for the kind of money they are pouring into it.  Check out the trailer and decide for yourself and the movie is out in March.
