- Top Gun 2 gets new screenwriter: Paramount has been talking about a Top Gun sequel for a couple years now and have recently hired Peter Craig, head screenwriter for The Town, to write a new script. Previously Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller, who were part of the X-Men: First Class screenwriting team, were supposed to have written a draft but it never materialized.
- Indiana Jones Quadrilogy coming to Blu Ray this Fall: The man whose name means Adventure, Indiana Jones, is finally coming to Blu Ray this fall. The set will include all four movies in high definition and Amazon currently has a pre-order page for $74.99.
- National Lampoon’s Vacation reboot to be directed by Horrible Bosses writers: John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, who wrote Horrible Bosses, are signed on to direct and write the reboot/sequel to National Lampoon’s Vacation. The new movie will be titled “Vacation” and follows Rusty Griswold as he takes his own family to Wally World before the park closes forever. Rumors are that Ed Helms might be approached to star.
- Netflix loses Starz catalog: On Wednesday of this week, Netflix lost over 800 movies as their deal with Starz came to an end. Popular titles like Toy Story 3, Tron: Legacy, Beetlejuice, Tangled, Scarface and Young Frankenstein were among those that are no longer available for streaming.
- The Governor cast for The Walking Dead: Hinting at what’s going to coming down the pipe for AMC’s hit The Walking Dead, it was announced that British actor David Morrisey has been cast as The Governor for Season 3 of the show. The Governor, for those not familiar with the comics, is the first major human villain that Rick and the survivors face off against and who sadistically runs a small town nearby the prison where the group has taken shelter. Morrisey has previously appeared on the British mini-series State of Play as well as Doctor Who.
