Joss Whedon says Avengers villains aren’t Skrull or Kree: We’ve gotten better and better looks at Loki’s army in every iteration of The Avengers trailers but Joss Whedon recently went on record and said that the alien looking ships don’t belong to either of the Marvel universe’s big alien races, the Skrulls and the Kree. Since the movies seem to be going more in the Ultimate direction, people are now guessing they might be the Chitauri, who were the first major threat faced by the Ultimates.
“Wallace”, a William Wallace TV show, being developed: With the success of shows like Spartacus and Game of Thrones, more and more violence and sex filled historical/fantasy epics are being pitched. One of the recent pitches was “Wallace”, a show based on the life of William Wallace and seemingly heavily influenced by Braveheart. The show would follow Wallace’s rise to power as the leader of the Scottish rebels fighting British oppression.
Walmart launching an in-store disc conversion service: With cloud computing services all the rage right now, Walmart is getting into market by offering a service where customers can bring in their physical DVDs and Blu Rays and have them converted into digital copies that can be streamed or downloaded through the Vudu online service. Customers can also convert their DVDs into high definition.
Jurassic Park 3D coming in 2013: The latest movie getting converted to 3D an re-released in theaters is Jurassic Park, coming out on July 19, 2013. It could be cool and I would love to experience Jurassic Park on the big screen, as I never have.
Home Alone 5 destroying Christmas on ABC Family: Set to debut during it’s “25 Days of Christmas” block of programming, ABC Family is unleashing a fifth move in the Home Alone series (which I will only acknowledge as a pair of movies). This new entry finds eight year old Finn moving from California to a creepy house in Maine that he thinks is haunted, so he rigs up a series of traps to try and catch ghosts. The traps actually catch a trio of burglars, led by an almost certainly blackmailed Malcolm McDowell.
WWE Films rebooting the Leprechaun: WWE films has been dormant for a bit but they’re going to be rebooting the infamous Leprechaun series with Lionsgate. The original series, starring Warwick Davis as the titular Leprechaun, at first attempted to be a semi-serious horror/slasher series but quickly realized how stupid and ridiculous it was and became horror/comedies. This new Leprechaun will apparently “modernize” the series but no word on what that means or who will star but, really, it’s obviously going to be Hornswoggle, right?
