Grand Theft Auto 5 Release Date Announced, Delayed
It’s official.
Grand Theft Auto Five, the highly anticipated next installment in the mighty GTA series, will be released on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 September 17, 2013. PC and Wii U versions of Grand Theft Auto 5 are rumored, but unconfirmed.
While originally intended to be released this Spring, a statement from Rockstar today has said otherwise. Citing a lack of polish, Rockstar has opted to release GTA:V in the Fall.
While this news may come as a bummer to most gamers wanting to get their hands on the new GTA as soon as humanly possible, I’m actually OK with the delay. I would personally rather wait a few more months and play the best game that Rockstar can possibly make than devote entire days worth of my life (no exaggeration) to a game that feels like it could’ve used more attention.
If the most recent trailer is an indication of what we can expect, this game is going to continue the time-honored GTA tradition of pushing the limits of gaming consoles, as well as the experience that audiences expect a game to deliver.
*Note: I realize that video games aren’t usually in our wheelhouse, but Grand Theft Auto 5, like all GTA releases after Grand Theft Auto 3, is going to be a cultural event. Besides, one could argue that it’s basically an interactive action movie anyway.
