Battle at the Box Office 2/25
After winning the box office last weekend, A Good Day to Die Hard nose dived to fifth place with only $10 million while Identity Thief reclaimed the number one spot with another $14 million, taking it up to just shy of $100 million total. Second place went to Snitch with $13 million, a decent opening for The Rock, above some of his other openings like Faster and much better than most of the other action movies released this year. Escape from Planet Earth and Safe Haven rounded out the top 5. Other new release, Dark Skies, had a disappointing opening of $8.9 million, far less than Insidious and was about even with the absolute bomb that is Apollo 18. This coming weekend it has competition from The Last Exorcism II, which is back to demonic possession as opposed to the less popular aliens of Dark Skies, so expect Dark Skies to possibly collapse next weekend. Other than that, not much else changed drastically in the top 10.
