Captain America: The Winter Soldier held onto the top spot during the holiday weekend with another $26.6 million, putting it over $200 million and it should move past Thor 2 this coming week.  It’s made over $385 million worldwide, so it’s sitting at just over half a billion total gross.

Rio 2 stayed in second with another $22.5 million and had a bigger drop off than it’s predecessor but it’s made over $75 million in it’s two weeks out.

The three new movies rounded out the top 5 with Heaven is for Real doing the best with $28.5 million for it’s five day opening.  It’s the third Christian themed success in a short time frame but it may drop off steeply next weekend if it’s contemporaries are any indication.  Transcendence bombed with only $11.2 million, one of the worst ever openings for Johnny Depp and one of the worst sci-fi openings as well.  A Haunted House 2 took fifth with $9.1 million, half of what the first movie opened to.

Draft Day and Oculus both tumbled out of the top 5 with Draft Day falling from fourth to sixth and Oculus falling all the way from third to eighth.

Not making it onto the top 10, despite strong reviews, was Disneynature’s latest, Bears, the movie only made $4.7 million, making it the worst opening for the documentary series to date.
