- Nicholas Hoult and Emilia Clarke the new Bonnie & Clyde: Beast and the Mother of Dragons will co-star as the famous bank robbers in an upcoming movie based on the book “Go Down Together: The True, Untold Story of Bonnie & Clyde”
- Steven Spielberg’s Halo show coming in 2015: Most likely hitting around the same time as Halo 5: Guardians, the Halo TV show will debut in 2015, with episodes most likely debuting on Showtime before hitting Xbox Live.
- Legendary and Universal may release Namor movie in 2016: Legendary and Universal released info on a mysterious “event” movie for 2016 and now Latino Review is speculating that it may be a Namor the Sub Mariner movie, the only Marvel license that Universal has the rights too and they would probably love to jump into the current comic book mania.
- John Barrowman becoming a regular on Arrow next season: Currently playing Malcolm Merlyn on the CW superhero show, John Barrowman will be a full cast member next season on the show, so expect lots of confrontations between the rival archers.
- Boondocks co-creator creating Killogy animated series: Rodney Barnes, co-creator of The Boondocks and Everyone Hates Chris, will be developing an animated series based on Killogy, an IDW comic series that follows three killers who accidentally unleash a voodoo curse on NYC. No word on what network it would be airing on.
- Official offer given to Harrison Ford for Blade Runner sequel: Warner Bros. confirmed that they officially have given an offer to Harrison Ford to reprise his role as Rick Deckard in the upcoming Blade Runner sequel. Ridley Scott is supposed to return to direct.
- Nicolas Winding Refn directing a horror film: The Drive and Only God Forgives director is in talks to direct the movie The Bringing, about a detective who goes to investigate a death at a hotel and stumbles into a nightmare. It’s apparently based somewhat on the Cecil Hotel, where a woman drowned in a water tank on the roof of the hotel and it was the home of “The Night Stalker, Richard Ramirez, an infamous 80’s serial killer.
- FX cancels Legit and Chosen: The freshman animated series and sophomore Jim Jeffiries show were both cancelled this week as FX had it’s upfront presentation.
- Edgar Ramirez joins Point Break: Gerard Butler recently bailed out of the Point Break remake but now it seems like Wrath of the Titans and Bourne Ultimatum actor, Edgar Ramirez has boarded the movie as Bodhi, originally played by Patrick Swayze.
- Firestarter series coming to TNT: Among the other series announced by TNT this week was a sequel series to the Drew Barrymore movie, Firestarter. Picking up 20 years after the film, “The Shop” will follow the pryokinetic character played by Barrymore as she is found by an agent working for the Department of Scientific Intelligence and is recruited to help other gifted people battle people using their powers for evil.
- TBS renews Conan through 2018: At their upfront presentation, TBS announced that they had reupped their contract with Conan O’Brien so that Conan will continue to air on the network through 2018. No word yet on whether Conan’s new late night follow up, The Pete Holmes Show, will be renewed or not.
- Channing Tatum is Gambit: Tatum will portray the Cajun mutant in the upcoming X-Men Apocalypse and most likely a solo movie shortly after.
- Noomi Rapace co-starring with Will Smith in Brilliance: The movie is set in a world where 1 out of every 100 children is born “brilliant” and has extraordinary powers, causing rising panic in the normal population. Smith plays a federal agent with an ability that allows him to track terrorists while Rapace is a tattoo artist with powers who is branded as a terrorist.
- RIP HR Giger: The legendary designer/artist passed away after injuries sustained in a fall, he was 74. Giger is best known for creating the look of the Alien universe and also worked on a failed adaptation of Dune and designed a concept for the Batman Forever Batmobile.
- No Wedge Antilles in Episode VII: One familiar face won’t be returning for Star Wars Episode VII is X-wing pilot Wedge Antilles. Actor Denis Lawson says he received an offer to return but declined, claiming he was not interested in reprising the role. Wedge became one of the most important figures of the Expanded Universe, commanding Rogue Squadron on a number of important missions.
- Kickboxer remake gets cast: Stuntman Alain Moussi is starring in the remake of the Van Damme classic and UFC legend Georges St. Pierre and the WWE’s Dave Bautista will co-star.
- Ridley Scott directing sci fi film “The Martian” with Matt Damon: Damon stars as an astronaut who is stranded on a Mars colony and must try to survive while NASA works on a rescue plan. Scott is taking over directing duties from Drew Goddard, who left to write and direct the Netflix Daredevil show and Sinister Six for Sony.
