  • Rian Johnson directing Episode VIII: The Looper/Brick director is going to be tackling the next proper entry in the Star Wars series after JJ Abrams’ Episode VII.  Gareth Edwards and Josh Trank are directing spin-off movies.
  • Rosario Dawson joins Daredevil: She’s playing an unnamed, “young woman whose quest to heal the wounds of Hell’s Kitchen brings Matt Murdock unexpectedly crashing into her life, while her own journey forever alters the course of his battle against the injustices of this broken city”
  • Legendary making a Dead Rising movie: The studio will be adapting the ridiculous series of zombie games but it will be debuting, not in theaters, but on Crackle, Sony’s streaming site.  The movie will feature four main characters, most likely including all of the playable characters from the games.
  • Better Call Saul delayed but renewed: The Breaking Bad spin-off will not be premiering until next year thanks to a delay but AMC seems to be super confident in it, already renewing the show for another season before it even airs.
  • IDW’s Ghostbusters comic ending: The incredible continuation of all things Ghostbusters from IDW will be ending after the upcoming issue #20, which will also conclude their “Mass Hysteria” event.
  • Harrison Ford could be out of Episode VII for two months: The extent of Harrison Ford’s injury on the set of Star Wars Episode VII was apparently much more severe than people thought, as he broke his leg and will be away for at least two months.
  • Doctor Strange gets writer: Jon Spaihts, writer of Prometheus, will be writing the screenplay for the Scott Derrickson directed Marvel movie.
  • Jason Issacs may voice Star Wars: Rebels’ Inquisitor: The heroes of the upcoming Disney XD cartoon have all been revealed but the main villain, the Imperial Inquisitor, has yet to get a voice but there’s a rumor it might be Jason Issacs.
  • Django/Zorro crossover comic coming soon: Tarantino will be co-writing the comic, that will find Django of Django Unchained teaming up with Zorro.  The comic will be coming from Dynamite and DC in a co-publishing deal.
  • Fox’s Frankenstein gets new title: The movie, starring James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe, is now called Victor Frankenstein and tells the classic story from Igor’s perspective.
  • Dreamworks gets the rights to Felix the Cat: Dreamworks grabbed another classic cartoon franchise rights with Felix the Cat but they didn’t announce a movie or TV show featuring the classic character yet.
  • Scooby-Doo reboot coming from WB: WB is planning on a new movie version of Scooby Doo, no word if it’s going to be live action or CG animated.  The last movie, Monsters Unleashed, came out almost 10 years ago this year.
  • Resident Evil 6 gets title, last in the series: The sixth entry in the Paul WS Anderson franchise will be called, appropriately, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter and will finally end the series and close the book on Milla Jovavich’s Alice and her battle against Umbrella.
  • Bourne 5 moves to 2016: The follow up to Bourne Legacy was planned for 2015 but will now hit in Summer of 2016.  There’s also a rumor that it was moved back to try and get Matt Damon to return as Jason Bourne.
  • Mark Ruffalo says a solo Hulk may be coming: Ruffalo said that Marvel is considering a solo Hulk movie sometime after Avengers: Age of Ultron.  Lou Ferigno said basically the same thing a few months ago.
  • HRG is the first confirmed returning Heroes character for Reborn: Jack Coleman’s Mr. Bennett aka HRG is the first confirmed returning cast member for the upcoming reboot of Heroes.  He was an agent in charge of group that tracked, trained and, took down if necessary, people with superpowers.
  • Dreamworks’ Trolls gets star and director: Anna Kendrick will be starring in the movie based on the classic 80’s/90’s toyline with Shrek Forever After director, Mike Mitchell, will direct.
  • John Cusack and Adrian Brody co-starring with Jackie Chan in Dragon Blade: One of Jackie Chan’s upcoming projects is a historical sword and sandals movie called Dragon Blade, that finds Roman and Chinese troops coming together to protect China from Emperor Tiberius.  Cusack plays the leader of a legion of 1,000, who allies with Chan’s character against an 100,000 man army led by Tiberius.
  • Teresa Palmer cast in Point Break: The Sorcerer’s Apprentice/Warm Bodies actress will be the lead female star of Point Break, the equivalent of Lori Petty in the original and most likely the love interest of the new Johnny Utah.
  • Sequel to The People vs George Lucas in production: One of the best pop culture documentaries detailed the relationship between Lucasfilm and fans, for better and for worse.  There’s a sequel to that film coming now, which will dive into current topics like Disney purchasing the franchise and what that means for fans.
  • Frank Grillo cast in The Raid remake: Grillo, most recently co-starring in Captain America: The Winter Solider, will be starring in the remake of The Raid: Redemption.  Grillo is apparently a fan of the original and hopes to make the remake live up to it’s crazy, brutal action.
  • X-Men: Apocalypse set in the 80’s: Continuing the recent movies decade jumps, the next X-Men movie, Apocalypse, will be set in 1983, according to producer Simon Kinberg.
