- Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe confirmed for next Shane Black movie: The duo will be noir detectives in the 70’s in The Nice Guys, who are hired to investigate a porn star’s death that leads into a massive conspiracy.
- MTV greenlights Shannara TV Show: The show will be based on a series of books by Terry Brooks, that puts a post-apocalyptic spin on the usual fantasy tropes, as a nuclear war causes people to mutate into elves and orcs and society rebuilds itself. The show will have a ten episode first season with TMNT director Jonathan Liebesman directing the first two.
- Colin Farrell in talks for True Detective Season Two: Farrell is apparently in talks for one of the, now, four central roles of the second season of the crime drama and Taylor Kitsch may also be in the running for a role. The show will move from the backwoods of Louisianna to California. Legendary director William Friedkin will possibly direct some episodes.
- Gotham gets a debut date: The Batman prequel will air on Monday, September 22nd at 8 PM, leading to the season two premiere of Sleepy Hollow.
- Guillermo Del Toro drops details about Pacific Rim: The Series: GDT said that he’s looking at a 13 episode first season of the animated Pacific Rim show, that will bridge the gap between the first movie and the sequel. He said it will feature all new Jaegers and all new Kaiju, with cameos from characters from the first movie and dive more into how the Kaiju are created and the effects of drifting. He said they are in talks with pretty much every network but nothing definite yet.
- David Oyelowo joins Star Wars Rebels: Oyelowo will play Agent Kallus, an Imperial agent who is tasked with hunting down and exterminating the fledging Rebel movement.
- Chris Columbus joins Goonies and Gremlins sequels: Both sequels are potentially on the fast track having been in development for seemingly ever. Richard Donner is supposed to be back for Goonies 2 while a director for the Gremlins sequel/reboot is still up in the air.
- Alec Baldwin in talks for MI5: Baldwin is in talks to play a high ranking CIA official who will be overseeing the IMF team, basically the same role Laurence Fishburne played in MI3.
- Robbie Amell cast as one half of Firestorm for Flash: The cousin of Arrow himself, Stephen Amell, Robbie Amell has been cast as one half of the fiery superhero, Firestorm for the upcoming Flash show on CW. No word on his other half, who will combine with him to make the one superpowered being.
- Original Alien cast playable in Alien: Isolation: You’ll be able to play a set of DLC missions that will let you play through the events of the first movie as Ripley, Dallas or Parker on the Nostromo.
- The Rock could join The Janson Directive: The movie is based on book by Bourne author Robert Ludlum and The Rock may play a “legendary CIA agent” who creates his own espionage agency but his operatives turn on him.
- Complete Pee Wee’s Playset Blu Ray coming in October: Shout Factory will be giving Pee Wee’s Playset it’s usual awesome treatment with a complete series Blu Ray set, coming in October. All 45 episodes have been digitally remastered from the original film negetives.
- David Slade directing the first two episodes of Powers: The Hannibal director/producer will be directing the first two episodes of the PSN exclusive comic book show, that follows a pair of detectives who work cases where superheroes are involved.
- Spoils of Babylon Season 2 coming to IFC next summer: The next season will adapt another “classic” Eric Jonrosh novel, The Spoils Before Dying, which is set in the seedy underbelly of the 50’s jazz world, where a former jazz pianist turned private eye must investigate a murder. It will air in the summer of 2015.
- The Conjuring spin-off coming this October: Annabelle, based on the Warrens investigation of a demonically possessed doll, will be coming to theaters this October, October 3rd to be specific. It will be up against David Fincher’s Gone Girl. The movie will feature a new cast and director.
- Brandon Routh cast as The Atom on Arrow: The former Superman will play Ray Palmer aka The Atom on the upcoming third season of Arrow. Palmer will be the new owner of Queen Consolidated and has a particular interest in their Applied Sciences division.
- Two more cast members added for Star Wars Episode VII: Crystal Clarke and Pip Andersen have joined the Episode VII cast. Clarke is a relatively unknown American actress whose first movie will debut next year while Andersen is an actor and parkour athlete.
