- Wentworth Miller cast as Captain Cold in The Flash: Flash has one of his main villains as Prison Break star Wentworth Miller has been cast as Captain Cold in the upcoming CW series.
- TNT renews Falling Skies, The Last Ship and Major Crimes: TNT’s alien invasion drama will return for a fifth and final season in Summer 2015 while new show The Last Ship is getting a second season and Major Crimes will get a fourth.
- Adam West voicing himself in Lego Batman 3: The 60’s Batman will voice himself and appear in mini-fig form in the upcoming third Lego Batman game, most likely in a role similar to Stan Lee had in Lego Marvel.
- Kevin Smith’s Tusk gets a release date: The horror movie from Smith will arrive on September 19th and a trailer should debut next week at Comic Con. The movie finds follows a man who starts to transform into a hideous walrusesque monster.
- Darren Aronofsky interested in Moonfall: Aronofsky is apparently interested in producing and possibly directing a movie called Moonfall, that is described as a Fargoesque thriller on the Moon, whether that means it’s a murder mystery or not is unknown.
- First Looks at Goosebumps and Pixels:
- Microsoft closes Xbox Entertainment Studios: The division that was supposed to be working on original movies and series for Xbox has been shut down as part of the massive layoffs at Microsoft this week. The Steven Spielberg produced Halo series will still come out on Showtime and the Xbox Live Marketplace.
- Christina Chong joins Star Wars Episode VII: Chong, most recently seen on 24: Live Another Day is the latest addition to Star Wars Episode VII. Like most of the cast, her role is unknown.
- Jason Issacs will be voicing the Inquisitor on Star Wars Rebels: The character is an agent of Darth Vader, sent out to hunt down and kill any surviving Jedi.
- Deborah Ann Woll cast in Daredevil: The True Blood actress will play Karen Page on the upcoming Netflix Daredevil show. Page is a co-worker of Matt’s at his law firm who eventually has a romantic relationship with him in the comics.
- Sam Wilson is the new Captain America: Revealed on The Colbert Report, Falcon will take over the mantle of Captain America in the comics in October, since Steve Rogers has lost his super solider serum and has aged drastically as a result.
- Alex Kurtzman offers updates on Amazing Spider Man 3 and Universal Monsters universes: The former seems to be in trouble as Kurtzman has left as a producer and the movie is delayed until at least 2017 following the disappointing performance of Amazing Spider-Man 2 (relatively speaking). The Universal Monsters universe, meanwhile, will most likely launch with the rebooted Mummy movie and subsequent movies featuring Dracula, Frankenstein’s Monster, The Wolfman and more will interact and reference each other.
- Gotham’s first episode will tease The Joker each episode: According to the show runners, the upcoming Batman prequel will feature a character in each of the first season’s episodes that could potentially be the future Joker. In the pilot will be a stand up comic who witnesses a horrible event.
- First Look at Avengers: Age of Ultron:
- Marvel Star Wars Omnibus coming in January: Marvel will take advantage of their access to Star Wars and release a massive omnibus of the original Marvel Star Wars comics that ran in the 80’s and followed the further adventures of Luke, Han, Leia, Chewie, C3po and R2D2. The omnibus will be available in January.
- Aquaman starring in next DC Animated movie: Justice League: Throne of Atlantis will detail the origins of Aquaman and his first encounter with the Justice League. Matt Lanter, the voice of Anakin Skywalker on Clone Wars, will voice Aquaman with Jason O’Mara voicing Batman, Jerry O’Connell voicing Superman, Rosario Dawson voicing Wonder Woman, Nathan Fillion voicing Green Lantern, Chris Gorham voicing The Flash and Sean Astin voicing Shazam.
- Spike developing historical dramas: Spike will air The Crusades, a limited series set in, obviously, the Crusades era. Pierce Brosnan will executive produce that show and Spike is also creating a show based around King Tut, also a limited series and starring Ben Kingsley.
- Power Rangers gets Robert Orci producing, new screenwriters: Orci will executive produce the next big screen Power Rangers adventure while Zach Stenz and Ashley Miller, screenwriters on X-Men: First Class, will write the script.
- Valiant developing an Archer & Armstrong movie: Valiant, home to X-O Manowar, Shadowman, Bloodshot and other comics is developing their mismatched duo of Archer and Armstrong into a movie. Archer is a monk raised in a strict, secluded society who meets and teams up with Armstrong, a drunken immortal.
- Thor will be a woman in October: Along with a major shake up to Captain America, Thor will do something to become unworthy of Mjolnir and the mantle of Thor will fall to a mysterious woman. Likely suspects for the new Thor include Angela, former Spawn hunter now Guardian of the Galaxy, Roz Solomon, Thor’s current SHIELD agent girlfriend or Jane Foster, who is fighting cancer but also recently moved to Asgard to be Earth’s representative.
- Conan O’Brien appearing in post-Sharknado SyFy original: The week after Sharknado 2 devastates NYC, Conan will appear in SyFy’s Sharktopus vs Pteracuda, produced by Roger Corman.
- Guillermo Del Toro reveals Hellboy 3 will never happen: GDT revealed that he’s been to basically every studio in Hollywood and no one is interested in a third Hellboy. The third movie was apparently going to be about Hellboy having to face his destiny as a harbinger of the Apocalypse.
- Christopher Walken playing Captain Hook in live Peter Pan musical on NBC: Trying recapture the ratings of last year’s Sound of Music live musical, NBC will be airing a live Peter Pan musical and it’s first cast member is none other than dance machine/legend Christopher Walken, who will play Captain Hook. Tap dancing will occur.
