- Eddie Izzard joins Powers on PSN: After recently playing wannabe Hannibal, Dr. Gideon, on Hannibal, Izzard is going to continue playing villains on Playstation’s first original series, Powers, based on the comic by Brian Michael Bendis, by playing he main supervillain of the story, Wolfe.
- Journey 3 and 4 coming with The Rock: The family adventures based on Jules Verne are returning for two more entries with The Rock back starring and Chad and Carey Hayes, who also wrote The Rock’s upcoming San Andreas and The Conjuring, are writing. It’s not clear if Josh Hutcherson will return or if the sequels will be based on a particular Verne novel, like the first two in the series.
- Jackie Chan approached for Rush Hour 4: New Line has approached Chan for a fourth entry in the buddy cop action comedy series but Chan reportedly told them he’s not interested until he sees a script, which they don’t have.
- Star Tours’ Rex may appear on Star Wars Rebels: If you are a fan of Star Tours 1.0, you’ll remember your pilot was the goofy but fun droid, Rex, who has been replaced by C-3Po for the revamped version. Rex may return to the Star Wars, as a new tie-in book the upcoming series has an entry for the RX-Series Pilot Droid, which is Rex’s model of droid. Paul Reubens voiced Rex on the ride.
- Texas Chainsaw getting another prequel: Texas Chainsaw, the most recent entry starring Alexandra Daddario, may be getting a prequel called Leatherface, as a writer has been hired by producer Carl Mazzocone, who has the rights to make six films in the Texas Chainsaw universe.
- Halloween Horror Nights maze line up revealed: Some of the properties getting turned into mazes this year in Orlando and Hollywood are Alien vs Predator, An American Werewolf in London, The Walking Dead, From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series, Dracula: Untold, SyFy’s Face Off and The Purge: Anarchy.
- Martin Lawrence confirms Bad Boy 3 is in the works: On Conan this past week, Martin Lawrence confirmed that he’s talked to Jerry Bruckheimer and Bad Boys 3 is moving forward, with a script being worked on and close to being finished.
- Godzilla 2 coming 2018: We have a bit of a wait for Gareth Edwards follow-up to Godzilla, as Godzilla 2 will hit theaters on June 8, 2018.
- TMNT 2 confirmed: The next TMNT movie is coming in 2016 and director Jonathan Liebesman mentioned that some fan favorite characters like Krang, Casey Jones, Bebop and Rocksteady are definitely things they would like to explore in the sequel as well as possibly seeing or visiting Dimension X.
- Power Rangers movie coming in 2016: Joining TMNT 2 is the upcoming Power Rangers movie, which will hit theaters in July of 2016.
- Captain America 3 writer wants MODOK in the MCU: Chris Markus, currently writing Cap 3, apparently is a super fan of fan favorite villain, MODOK, and really wants Marvel to get the character into an upcoming movie, but admits it might be a little strange, seeing as he’s a giant floating head with baby arms and legs. He’s been campaigning for an appearance from AIM’s leader for over 3 years now.
- Silent Hills coming from Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro: At the German games conference, GamesCon, Konami announced the next entry in the Silent Hill series, Silent Hills. The game will be co-directed by Metal Gear’s Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro and star Norman Reedus as the main character.
- Tom Hiddleston wanted for Ben-Hur remake: Paramount is readying a reboot of the epic classic, Ben Hur and their top pick to take over the role from Charlton Heston is Loki himself, Tom Hiddleston. Wanted director Timur Bekmambetov is directing the remake.
- Sophie Turner playing Mary Shelley in a bio pic: Game of Thrones’ Sansa Stark will play the author of Frankenstein in an upcoming bio pic called “Mary Shelley’s Monster” which follows her in her late teens as she writes what is considered the first sci-fi novel in history.
- RIP Lauren Bacall: Along with the tragic death of Robin Williams this week, legendary actress Lauren Bacall also passed away this week at age 89. She co-starred with Humphrey Bogart in movies like To Have and Have Not, The Big Sleep and Key Largo and they were married as well. She most recently has done voice work on things like Family Guy and Scooby Doo and the Goblin King.
- Pixels delayed: The Adam Sandler video game movie has been pushed from May to July 2015. The movie stars Adam Sandler, Peter Dinklage and Josh Gad as a team of 80’s arcade gamers who are tasked to put their skills to real use when aliens invade.
- Ed Harris and James Marsden join Westworld: HBO’s upcoming remakes of Michael Crichton’s movie Westworld just added two more big names to it’s pilot’s cast with Ed Harris and James Marsden. Anthony Hopkins, Evan Rachel Wood, Miranda Otto and Jeffery Wright are also starring the show about a futuristic theme park where visitors can experience different historical eras, with robots populating each area to make the experience as realistic as possible.
- WB “aggressively pursuing” an Aquaman movie: After officially confirming Jason Momoa is the king of Atlantis in the DC Cinematic Universe, WB apparently has two scripts being worked on and will take the best one for a possible solo film featuring the character.
- Fury moves to October: Brad Pitt’s World War II film will move up to the slot left by Kingsman: The Secret Service, which is now coming February 2015.
- Marvel has a finished script for an Inhumans movie: Marvel may be bringing the bizarre super powered moon dwellers into the MCU, as they apparently have a finished script for an Inhumans movie. Led by Black Bolt, whose voice is one of most powerful weapons in the universe and even a whisper could could rock planets, the Inhumans live on the Moon and transform themselves with the Terrigan Mists. In the comics universe, the Terrigan Mists were released onto the Earth and many latent Inhumans emerged. Vin Diesel has been teasing he may be in talks to play Black Bolt.
- Evil Dead 2 may be on hold: Sam Raimi announced the Evil Dead TV Series starring Bruce Campbell at the recent Comic Con but that may have put the sequel to last year’s reboot on hold. Star Jane Levy said she does not think a sequel will happen and hasn’t talked to anyone about it.
- Zoolander 2 still on the way: In a recent interview with Variety, Justin Theroux, currently starring in The Leftovers, confirmed there’s a script finished for Zoolander 2 and he’s been having talks with Ben Stiller. Theroux was originally supposed to direct the sequel but he may not have time now and Stiller may direct again. Theroux played the Evil DJ in the first Zoolander.
- Michael Bay will pass the Transformers franchise to a new director: Bay said in a recent interview he wants to eventually pass the Transformers franchise to a new director, although if that’s going to start with Transformers 5 is not clear. Bay said he wants to focus on new projects and new ideas.
