  • Casting News: Jeff Bridges joins Matt Damon and Jessica Chastain in Ridley Scott’s upcoming sci-fi film, The Martian while Giancarlo Esposito, best known as Gus Fring from Breaking Bad, will be in the upcoming Maze Runner sequel, The Scorch Trials.
  • Nicholas D’Agosto cast as Harvey Dent in Gotham: The future DA of Gotham and crazed criminal Two Face will appear on Gotham with Final Destination 5 and Masters of Sex actor Nicholas D’Agosto starring as a recurring character for the rest of season one and may become a series regular in season two.
  • Felicity Smoak added to New 52 Green Arrow book: Oliver Queen’s fan favorite tech wizard, Felicity Smoak, has been reintroduced into the New 52 comic universe as her Arrow version, which makes sense as the Arrow writers are now writing the Green Arrow comic for DC.
  • The Rock may be starring in Baywatch movie: With movies like 21/22 Jump St making tons of money, the TV reboots are not going to end anytime soon and Paramount is going to reboot Baywatch as an action/comedy with possibly The Rock starring, as he’s been “loosely attached” to the film this week.  It was confirmed this week that The Rock will star in the Janson Directive, an adaptation of a novel by Bourne author, Robert Ludlum.
  • Star Wars Rebels renewed for Season 2: The movie special Spark of Rebellion that will kick off Star Wars Rebels airs tonight but the show has already been renewed for a second season by Disney.
  • WB rebooting I Am Legend without Will Smith: I Am Legend was kind of a mild hit a few years ago and Warner Bros is moving forward with a reboot/sequel that will not star Will Smith and is actually based on a completely different script for a movie called A Garden at the End of the World which is described as a sci-fi western.
  • Daniel Radcliffe joins Now You See Me 2: Radcliffe will play the son of Michael Caine, who’s wealthy businessman was the target of the magical heist crew of the first film.  Caine is returning along with Mark Ruffalo, Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Isla Fisher and Morgan Freeman.
  • Joaquin Phoenix passes on Dr. Strange: Phoenix was apparently in final talks to play the Sorcerer Supreme but those talks have apparently fell through and Phoenix will not star in the movie.  Ethan Hawke may be the new front runner according to another report from this past week.
  • Dracula Untold may now kick off Universal Monsters Universe: Next week’s Dracula Untold may now be the kick off of the upcoming Universal Monsters Universe, as there were some reshoots that now add an after credits scene that may tie into future movies, like the upcoming Mummy reboot.
  • Angry Birds cast announced: Jason Sudeikis will star as the main Angry Bird, Red, with Peter Dinklage, Bill Hader, Josh Gad, Danny McBride and Maya Rudolph in co-starring roles.
  • Fox developing TV series of Big: Fox is turning the Tom Hanks 80’s classic into a half hour comedy series, with the producers of their recent military comedy Enlisted producing this show as well.
  • Rush Hour TV show in the works: WB and Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence will develop the Chris Tucker/Jackie Chan action/comedy series into a TV show.  There’s no network or casting announced.
  • Yvette Nicole Brown leaving CommunityWhen Community returns on Yahoo, they will lose another regular as Yvette Nicole Brown, who plays Shirley, will not return, saying the shooting schedule would have taken her away from her ailing father for too many hours a day.  The show is casting two new characters who will join the remaining original cast.
  • Crouching Tiger 2 hitting IMAX and Netflix before theaters: The Weinstein Company is shaking up the usual theatrical release schedule with the sequel to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, which will debut on Netflix and IMAX theaters before traditional theaters.  This has pissed off some major players, with Cinemark and Regal saying that they will not play the movie in their theaters.
  • Tetris movie in the works: Threshold Entertainment, led by Larry Kasanoff, producer of the Mortal Kombat movies, is developing Tetris into a “very big sci fi epic movie”.
  • The Walking Dead spin-off announces it’s characters: Hit the link to read all the descriptions for the characters we will follow in the upcoming Walking Dead spin-off series, coming to AMC.
  • Saturday Morning cartoons are dead: The end of an era arrived last weekend as The CW cancelled it’s Saturday morning cartoon block, Vortex, the last remaining major network cartoon line up.  CW will replace the block with a line up of live action educational programs.
  • Dominic Cooper co-starring on Agent Carter: Peggy Carter will be getting some help on her solo show from Howard Stark, as Dominic Cooper will reprise his role from the first Captain America  film and will help Peggy with her missions for the Strategic Scientific Reserve, that will eventually become SHIELD.
