EA Commentary: The Town That Dreaded Sundown
For Halloween, the trio of Zach, Chris and Joe check out the 70’s slasher movie, The Town that Dreaded Sundown, which recently saw a Blu Ray release, an addition to Netflix streaming and a remake on VOD. Directed and co-starring Charles B Pearce (who would later bring us MST3K gem Boggy Creek II), the movie details the true events that happened in the 1946 in the small town of Texarkana, Ark where “The Phantom” stalked and killed five people for one horrifying summer. This apparently included killing one girl by tying a knife to a trombone. The guys try to figure out if the omnipresent narrator is from NFL Films, why there’s so much terrible comic relief, how putting cops in dresses will solve anything and why the Phantom just seems to give up being creative and just starts shooting everyone. You can stream the movie on Netflix or Amazon Instant Video (just make sure you are watching the 70’s version) and sync up the commentary below.
