Musical Montage: BJ Scott “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head”
Written for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, BJ Thomas’ song “Raindrops Keep Fallin on my Head” became one the biggest hits of the 70’s. Written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David, the song is featured in the movie during a scene where Butch and Sundance take a whimsical break from shootouts to try out the new fangled invention that is the bicycle. The song was released a few months before the movie and was not really connecting with listeners but after the movie, it jumped up to number 1 on the Billboard charts and became the fourth biggest song of 1970, won the Oscar for Best Original Song and was ranked #23 by AFI on their 100 Years, 100 Songs list.
