Musical Montage: Paul Simon “You Can Call Me Al”
Coming off his seventh album, Graceland, Paul Simon delivered a strangely upbeat rumination on mid-life crises with “You Can Call Me Al”. Originally featuring his performance during a monologue on Saturday Night Live for it’s music video, Simon didn’t like it and recruited Chevy Chase, at the height of his powers, to co-star with him in a goofy new video where Chase lip syncs the entire song while Simon plays a variety of instruments. The song hit number 23 on the charts in the US and number 4 on the UK charts and you can check out the music video below.
