Cop Rock coming to DVD: Shout Factory is releasing the legendarily terrible and insane musical cop show Cop Rock on DVD in May, with new interviews from creator Stephen Bochco, star Anne Bobby and more.
MacGyver movie and show on the way: The 80’s secret agent with a penchant for combining objects into useful escape and diversion items is coming back in not only a movie reboot but a potential TV series as well. CBS ordered a pilot for a new MacGyver series that will follow a younger MacGyver as he first joins the mysterious agency he works for. The pilot will be directed by James Wan. Lionsgate is also movie forward with a movie version of MacGyver, not related to the new show, with producers Neal Moritz and original MacGyver creator Lee David Zlotoff on board.
Jason Patric starring in Wayward Pines Season 2: Fox’s insane sci-fi show will be back this summer for a new season and Jason Patric will be taking over starring duties from Matt Dillon as Dr. Theo Yadlin, who awakens in the mysterious town of Wayward Pines in the middle of a rebellion. Dillon starred as an FBI agent who stumbles into the town and is joined soon by his wife and son, who all try to figure out the secret of the town.
Keanu Reeves starring in racing movie Rally Car: Reeves will star as a former NASCAR driver who is given a chance to compete in a cross country rally race in China. Harald Zwart, director of the Karate Kid reboot and Mortal Instruments will direct.
New Zorro movie being directed by Jonas Cuaron: The new take on Zorro, called “Z”, will be directed by Jonas Cuaron, brother of Alfonso Cuaron and writer of Gravity and directed the thriller Desierto that will be out this year.
Colony renewed for a second season by USA: USA’s alien invasion drama Colony has been renewed for a second season after airing three episodes so far in it’s first season. Josh Holloway and Sarah Wayne Callies star as a husband and wife who are trying to survive in Los Angeles that has been taken over by an invading alien force.
FX’s Legion will star Dan Stevens: Stevens will star as David Heller, a mutant who is diagnosed with schizophrenia. In the comics, Heller is the son of Charles Xavier and his different personalities manifested with a different power. Aubrey Plaza, Jean Smart and Rachel Keller will co-star and Fargo creator Noah Hawley is showrunning.
Lionsgate gets the rights to Magic Treehouse Books: With the Hunger Games done, Lionsgate is lookign for another literary franchise and has gotten the rights to the Magic Treehouse series of books, of which there are 54. The books follow siblings Jack and Annie as they discover a magical treehouse filled with books that let them travel in time.
Supergirl and The Flash crossing over: Grant Gustin will guest star on the 18th episode of Supergirl in an episode called “Worlds Finest” as The Flash, who arrives in National City to help Melissa Benoist’s Supergirl with the latest threat to the city. Greg Berlanti oversees both shows and it’s been hoped and rumored that Supergirl would crossover with the CW DC shows at some point.
Exorcist pilot ordered by Fox: Fox has ordered a pilot for a show that would be a reboot of the classic horror film The Exorcist. The new show would follow two different men involved with a demonic possession affecting a family. Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ Rupert Wyatt is directing the pilot.
Furious 9 and 10 get release dates: Vin Diesel announced the release dates for the final two movies in the Fast & Furious series with part 9 coming on April 19, 2019 and the finale coming on April 2, 2021. Furious 8 is arriving on April 14, 2017 with F. Gary Gray directing and the crew heading to NYC.
Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens announced: TT Games has announced that Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens is coming later this year to your console of choice. You’ll be able to play as most of the characters from the movie with a new gameplay twist being that enemy characters can build Lego vehicles and structures like your characters, adding new challenge.
Noomi Rapace won’t be back for Alien: Covenant: Rapace will not reprise her role as Dr. Elizabeth Shaw from Prometheus for the upcoming Alien: Covenant. Michael Fassbender is so far the only character from Prometheus returning to the Ridley Scott directed follow up.
