Netflix Brings Us The Siege of Jadotville (Trailer)
Netflix is cranking out the original movies this fall and another one coming in October is The Siege of Jadotville. Based on true events, the movie stars Jamie Dornan, of 50 Shades of Gray, as Pat Quinlan, the commander of a squad of Irish soldiers sent in by the UN on an operation during the Katanga conflict in the Congo during the 60’s. Sent to a dillapitated mining town, the unit was attacked by a massive force led by French and Belgian mercenaries with local troops supporting Katanga prime minister Moise Tshombe, who seceded from Congo. Estimates put the number at 155 for the Irish and possibly 5,000 for the attacking force but the Irish held out for five days before being force to surrender due to lack of food and ammo. Along with Dornan, Jason O’Mara and Mark Strong co-star in the dramatic retelling of the battle and it looks like if you are into historical/war movies, this could be right up your alley. It’s out on October 7th on Netflix and you can check out the trailer below.
