  • The Simpsons Marathon 2 is coming to FXX: FXX is doing another massive marathon to celebrate the 600th episode of The Simpsons that is this year’s Treehouse of Horror episode on October 19th and all 600 episodes will air in order on FXX starting November 24th and will go for 13 days.
  • Rings and Friday the 13th delayed: Paramount has delayed Rings until February of next year while the much troubled new Friday the 13th has a new date of October 13th, 2017, which actually is a Friday the 13th.
  • Bill Hader is Alpha 5 in Power Rangers: Hader will play the beloved, annoying sidekick to Bryan Cranston’s Zordon in the upcoming Power Rangers reboot.  There may be a trailer at NYCC in a few weeks.
  • Paramount believes Monster Trucks will be a disaster: In slightly unprecedented news, Paramount revealed they believe their upcoming kids movie Monster Trucks, starring new MacGyver Lucas Till, will probably lose them $115 million when it arrives in January next year based on market research and box office analysis.
  • Equalizer 2 on the way from director Antoine Fuqua: With The Magnificent Seven out this weekend, Antoine Fuqua is readying is next project which will team him up with Denzel Washington again for the sequel to 2015’s The Equalizer, which will start shooting in the fall of next year.
  • The Dark Tower move gets TV companion series: The upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s Dark Tower hits next year and it will get a TV companion series based on the prequel novel, Wizard and Glass, which fills in the backstory of The Gunslinger, Roland, who will be played by Idris Elba in the movie.  Elba probably won’t star in the series and the fact that it’s a prequel will probably allow a younger, more affordable actor for a 10-13 episode series.
  • Idiocracy returning to theaters: Only getting more and more relevant since it’s release, Idiocracy will return to Alamo Drafthouses and some select other theaters around the country on October 4th for it’s tenth anniversary.  The full list of theaters is here: https://drafthouse.com/event/idiocracy
  • Hasbro/Mattel mini-series coming to Amazon: Amazon will feature a dramatic adaptation of the book Toy Wars by G. Wayne Miller which details the battle for toy industry domination between Hasbro and Mattel in the 80’s and 90’s.  Josh Gad will star in the show and Seth Gordon, who directed King of Kong, will direct the pilot and it’s expected sometime next year.
  • FX renews Atlanta and Better Things: Both critically acclaimed shows just started but FX has renewed both comedy shows for second seasons that will air next year with 10 episodes each.
  • Scoot McNairy joins Fargo Season 3: The Halt and Catch Fire co-star will join Fargo Season 3 in an undisclosed role alongside Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Carrie Coons and Ewan McGregor.
  • Stallone developing a pizza comedy series: Probably the last thing you would expect from Sly, he’s developing a show based on Richie Palmer, who brought NYC style pizza to Los Angeles and opened Mulberry Street Pizzeria, which became a well-known celebrity hangout and Palmer was even married to Raquel Welch for a while.
  • First cast member for Netflix’s Lost in Space show: Taylor Russell, from Falling Skies and the Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Movie, will co-star as Judy Robinson in the upcoming reboot of the sci-fi classic on Netflix.  The show is expected to hit streaming sometime in 2018.
