The Dark Tower is Finally in Sight (Trailer)

After a bunch of delays and false starts, The Dark Tower is finally hitting theaters in August.  Based on the epic fantasy series by Stephen King, The Dark Tower movie is a loose adaptation of the first novel in the series, The Gunslinger, which finds the titular Gunslinger, Roland Deschain (Idris Elba) on quest to hunt down the mysterious Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey) and stop him destroying The Dark Tower, the nexus point for the entire universe.  Roland lives in an alternate reality but a young boy from our world, Jake Chambers (Tom Taylor), ends up there and the pair form an unlikely team to stop the Man in Black.  I’m only about 1/3 of the way into the second book, The Drawing of the Three, so I don’t know the intricacies of how this differs or if there’s things later on that they are bringing to this first movie but just based on reading The Gunslinger, things look pretty different but cool, especially Idris Elba in full on bad ass mode and there’s Easter eggs to other King works, as The Dark Tower books have basically unified the Stephen King universe, with characters and places from other books referenced in the Dark Tower books.  The movie is from Nicolaj Arcel and arrives on August 4th.  Check out the trailer below.
