69th Emmy Awards Nominations
Seemingly out of nowhere (at least to us) were the announcements of the 69th Emmy Awards nominees, with Westworld and Veep (and HBO in general) leading the pack with 22 and 17 nominations respectively. Stranger Things was also finally eligible after missing last year’s cutoff and got 4 nominations, including Best Drama Series and the Emmy voters finally realized that The Americans probably deserves some respect and both Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys were nominated in the lead actor categories. Around the ‘net, I’ve seen people saying HBO’s The Leftovers, which wrapped up it’s final season a little bit ago, was the biggest snob and co-star Carrie Coon was nominated for her role on Fargo but not The Leftovers. I’ve also seen a lot of anger of Michael McKean and Rhea Seehorn not getting nominated for Better Call Saul, but Bob Odenkirk and Jonathan Banks were both nominated in lead and supporting actor. Check out the full list of nominees below and the awards will be given out on September 17th on CBS.
