The Apocalyse Was Only Delayed in Pacific Rim: Uprising (Trailer)
With Guillermo Del Toro at the helm, 2013’s Pacific Rim delivered exactly what we wanted from the premise: giant robots fighting giant monsters in jaw dropping CG. Next year, the battle begins again as a new generation of Jaeger pilots fight a new threat in Pacific Rim: Uprising. Directed by Spartacus and Daredevil producer Steven S. DeKnight, Uprising follows Jake Pentecost (John Boyega), trying to live up the legend of his father Stacker (Idris Elba) as he commands the new Jaeger Gypsy Avenger with partner Nate Lambert (Scott Eastwood) against both a new form of Kaiju and what looks like enemy Jaegers. Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi) is the new head of the Jaeger program and Doctors Newt (Charlie Day) and Hermann (Burn Gorman) are back as well. The new Jaegers are all sleeker, faster and more agile and the trade off is that it looks like maybe the fights won’t the same epic sense of weight of the original but it’s still giant robots fighting giant monsters, so we are in. It’s out on March 23rd and you can check out the trailer below.
