Daniel Bruhl Tracks a Killer in 1896 NYC in The Alienist (Trailer)

TNT has finally revealed the release date for their highly anticipated adaptation of Caleb Carr’s novel of the same name and dropped a new trailer to go along with the news.  Debuting on January 22nd next year, The Alienist stars Daniel Bruhl as Dr. Laszlo Kreizler, the titular Alienist or criminal psychologist, in 1896 New York City, where a killer is brutally murdering young male prostitutes.  Dr. Kreizler gets help from newspaper man Jonathan Moore (Luke Evans) and police secretary Sara Howard (Dakota Fanning), who is looking to try and becomes the NYPD’s first female detective.  Cary Fukanaga, director the incredible first season of True Detective, is the executive producer and, most likely and hopefully, he will be directing some episodes as well.  There’s been similar shows recently like Ripper Street, Taboo and Peaky Blinders but the cast and Fukanaga sets this one apart.  Check out the new trailer below.
