Musical Montage: Bob Rivers “I Am Santa Claus”
An incredibly popular radio DJ for over two decades in the Pacific Northwest, Bob Rivers was also a creator of parody songs a la Weird Al and specifically focused on Christmas for five albums between 1988 and 2002. Coming off his second album, I Am Santa Claus, the title track was a parody of Black Sabbath’s “Iron Man” and all the lyrics focus on Santa. The album hit #23 on the Billboard holiday chart when it was released in 1993 and eventually sold over 100,000 copies. Rivers created a music video for the song which features Santa rocking out on stage with a rock band playing the song and you can check it out below for some heavy metal infused holiday cheer.
