Movie of the Month: Killer Klowns from Outer Space

Celebrating it’s 30th anniversary this month, the Everything Action crew is diving into the wacky circus hi-jinks of Killer Klowns from Outer Space for our Movie of the Month.

Hitting theaters on May 27th, 1988, the movie was directed by Stephen Chiodo in his directorial debut.  Chiodo has not directed much since then but he’s more known for his special effects work, doing pupeteering for movies like Team America, crafting monsters for Masked Rider and designing the creatures for all the Critters films.  The Killer Klowns are definitely some fantastic practical creatures, each of them unique and all of them using various, usually harmless circus and clown related items, like balloons and cotton candy, as weapons to terrorize the small town of Crescent Cove.  The movie was not a hit when it first hit but has since become a cult classic and we’ll be watching it for this month’s commentary.  It’s currently only streaming on Tubi, which is great normally but doesn’t work logistically for a commentary, so probably grab a DVD or Blu-Ray of the movie and get ready to laugh in horror.
