Charlie Hunnam and Rami Malek Plan a Prison Break in Papillon (Trailer)
Based on a true story, and also a 1973 film of the same name starring Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman, Papillon is hitting select theaters this summer. Starring Charle Hunnam as Henri “Papillon” Charriere, who is unjustly convicted for a murder he didn’t commit and sentenced to life on the brutal penal colony of Devil’s Island. He meets Louis Dega (Rami Malek), a counterfeiter who is also commited to Devil’s Island and agrees to fund an escape attempt in exchange for protection from the people looking to kill him. The movie looks pretty grim and gritty and kind of similar to the last “based on a true story” adventure starring Hunnam, The Lost City of Z. The movie debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival last fall and will arrive on August 24th in select theaters. Check out the trailer below.
