Issue three focuses on Xexres adventure as the God King, and his overblown ego perspective of the world. The death of Xexres’s father, King Darius, was a pivotal moment that changed his whole idea of himself. The last dying words of King Darius begged Xexres to rethink how the Persians should conquer, stating that the Greeks would not easily bend by brutal force. Xexres heard his father and understand it as a different meaning. It wouldn’t take a man to conquer the world, but a shinning figure to show men that they needed to be controlled.
Frank Miller explores more of Xexres inner thoughts with many inner monologues and stunning visuals that show Xexres commanding authority. From walking among his people, sitting upon his gold throne and watching celebrations in his honor, Xexres views a world that needs him to balance it. Any fan of the 300 comics and movies that loved the over the top nature of Xexres will enjoy this issue the dedicates its golden God King.
