Emmett and the Gang Head to Space in The Lego Movie 2: The Second Piece (Trailer)
Picking up five years after the first, incredible, Lego Movie (which is also how long it’s been between movies), the entire gang is back for The Lego Movie 2: The Second Piece. Set up at the end of the first movie, Brickburg was ravaged by the Duplo invaders and the world is now a Mad Max inspired, post-apocalyptic wasteland, which has no effect on Emmett’s (Chris Pratt) dim-witted optimism. A UFO arrives and the alien warrior inside, Sweet Mayhem (voiced by Stephanie Beatriz) abducts everyone but Emmett, who has to construct a ship and head into space to rescue his friends. Elizabeth Banks is back as Lucy aka Wyldstyle, Alison Brie as Unikitty, Nick Offerman as Metal Beard, Channing Tatum as Superman and Will Arnett as Batman (who will hopefully have some sort of hilarious explanation for how he’s back and where everyone else from The Lego Batman Movie are) with Tiffany Haddish joining as a, as yet unknown, character. Lord and Miller are only producing this time around, turning over directing duties to Mike Mitchell, who has had a very mixed career, directing great movies like Sky High but also things like Alvin and the Chimpmunks: Chipwrecked and Trolls. His co-director Trisha Gum has worked on shows like Robot Chicken, Titan Maximum and Moral Orel. The movie is out on February 9th next year and you can check out the trailer below.
