Pokemon Get Real in the First Trailer for Detective Pikachu (Trailer)
One of the weirdest side stories in the Pokemon universe looks like it’s getting an equally weird movie in next summer’s Detective Pikachu. Ryan Reynolds voices Pikachu, delivering some slightly more family friendly sass as he teams up with Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’s Justice Smith on a quest to find Smith’s missing father. Smith’s character is the only one who can actually hear Pikachu’s “normal” voice, which is Reynolds, everyone else just hears the regular “Pika Pika!” that everyone knows from decades of Pokemon. It looks like the pair will also run into a slew of other Pokemon, rendered for the first time in awesome/disturbing CG including Charizard, Bulbasaur, Psyduck, Mr. Mime and Greninja. Kathryn Newton, Karan Soni, Ken Watanabe, Rita Ora, Suki Waterhouse and Bill Nighy co-star and Rob Letterman, who directed Goosebumps, is directing. The movie is out on May 10th and you can check out the first trailer below.
