The Pull List – Crackdown #2
A darken city burns bright with the fires of violent gangs on the street. The rival gangs of San Reno had joined forces, launching an attack on the city’s power grid and the Agency headquarters. Now five agents are left alone in a war zone city. With the Agency headquarters destroyed, the agent’s enhanced armor and weaponry have been disabled. Regardless of their equipment, the agents take on the challenge to defend the innocent from armed thugs and take back the city.
Crackdown over the top gung-ho action introductory chapter gets a surprise twist that turns the five super-powered agents to be more exposed to danger. Their advanced suits and guns go offline, focusing the agents to go back to basics. But this elite crime-fighting task force is just as deadly without their standard equipment. They lay down the law with whatever weapons they can get their hands on.
Writer Jonathan Goff does not waste time to send the agents straight into danger. Goff keeps the story tightly focused on the action, letting the story be told by how the characters deal with the troubled city. Ricardo Jaime’s polish visuals show an amazingly detailed world, that is enhanced by Assis Leite’s color work. A cityscape comes alive with chaotic scenes of looting, gunfire, and flames. As the agents’ fight to retake the city, there are more problems than disorder and gangs ahead in the next issue.
