Musical Montage: Wiz Khalifa, Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Yachty & Sueco the Child “Speed Me Up”
After an unprecedented acquiescence to fans on social media that resulted in a complete redesign of the main character, the first-ever live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movie arrives in theaters this coming weekend and it got a song from the team of Wiz Khalifa, Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Yachty & Sueco the Child to help promote it. “Speed Me Up” was released in late January with a music video featuring the crew playing some old school Genesis and getting sucked into some Sonic games. They turn into pixel characters but continue to sing and/or rap about Sonic while also comparing his speed to the speed of a relationship. The music video is pretty great, with lots of nods to the classic games and the song isn’t that bad either, with a similar sort of vibe to “Sunflower” from the Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse soundtrack. Riff Raff, who appears in the movie, is also supposed to have a song on the soundtrack but it doesn’t seem to be released yet. Check out the “Speed Me Up” music video below.
