Ryan Reynolds Breaks His Programming in Free Guy (Trailer)
Ryan Reynolds goes a bit Tron, a bit Ready Player One in the upcoming action-comedy Free Guy. Reynolds plays Guy, a sweet bank teller who learns that his entire world is an open-world, multiplayer video game called Free City. He decides to become a hero and sets about trying to make the chaos of his universe a better place, which pisses off the evil publisher of the game, played by Taika Waititi, who decides to completely shut it down. With only a few days to save his universe, Guy teams up with Milly aka Molotov Girl (Jodie Comer), one of the players and a programmer on the game, to find a way to stop his universe from no longer existing. Joe Keery and Lil Rel Howery co-star and Shawn Levy, of Stranger Things, is directing. It looks pretty fun and seems like it has the same metacomedy style as the Jumanji movies, which also played around with video game tropes and mechanics. It’s planning on a December 11th release date and you can check out the trailer below.
