Netflix Gets Another Epic Fantasy Series with Shadow and Bone (Trailer)
As we wait for The Witcher Season 2, Netflix is unleashing another big fantasy series in April with Shadow and Bone. Based on the Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo, Shadow and Bone follows an orphan mapmaker and soldier names Alina Starkov (Jessie Mei Lei), who is part of an expedition into the Shadow Fold, an area of unnatural darkness that is swarming with monsters that has splintered the land of Ravka. When the ship is attacked, Alina unleashes previously unknown powers that creates magical light that destroys the creatures attacking them. Brought to the royal court, Alina trains with the Grisha, the country’s military magic users, and comes under the influence of General Kirigan (Ben Barnes), who believes they can use Alina’s powers to destroy the Shadow Fold for good and reunite the land. It looks like there is all the usual intrigue you would get from a Game of Thrones along with some His Dark Materials and Avatar: The Last Airbender influences possibly as well. The first season arrives on April 23rd and you can check out the trailer below.
