Idris Elba is Tilda Swinton’s Genie in Three Thousand Years of Longing (Trailer)
Although the bar for genie movies was set pretty high by Kazaam, director George Miller probably has a good chance of topping it with his bonkers-looking new movie, Three Thousand Years of Longing. The Mad Max director has Tilda Swinton as a solitary scholar, Alithea Binnie, who picks up a souvenir on a trip to Istanbul that contains a djinn, played by Idris Elba. In traditional djinn/genie fashion, Alithea gets three wishes but she’s reluctant to make any as she’s not sure what exactly she would want. It looks like a large part of the movie will be seeing how Elba’s previous masters used their wishes, to dark or comedic ends. Miller’s visual prowess is on full display as there are tons of inventive and creative things happening throughout this trailer. The movie is on August 31st this year and you can check out the trailer below.
