Guillermo Del Toro Puts His Spin on Pinocchio for Netflix in December (Trailer)
Almost 15 years in the making, Guillermo Del Toro is finally making his animated feature film debut with the stop-motion Pinocchio for Netflix. Announced by GDT in 2008, the film is based on the 2002 version of The Adventures of Pinocchio by artist Gris Grimly and has been in development hell while Del Toro has done other projects in the meantime. Gregory Mann voices Pinocchio with Ewan McGregor as Sebastian J. Cricket and David Bradley as Gepetto. Cate Blanchett, Christoph Waltz, Tim Blake Nelson, Tilda Swinton, Finn Wolfhard, John Turturro, Ron Perlman and Burn Gorman co-star. The movie’s stop-motion looks incredible and it definitely has Del Toro’s sense of style, although maybe a bit more family-friendly and whimsical than recent stuff like Nightmare Alley. Pinocchio is in select theaters in November and then premieres on Netflix in December. Check out the trailer below.
