Musical Montage: Hi-Five “Never Should’ve Let You Go”

1993’s Sister Act 2: Back in Habit was full of music and alongside all the gospel and chorus music was the song “Never Should’ve Let You Go” from R&B group Hi-Five.  Whoopi Goldberg returned as Deloris Van Cartier, who in the first Sister Act was hiding out in a convent to escape the mob.  Now a successful Las Vegas performer, she’s recruited back to the convent by her former sisters to help save the church’s school by becoming their new music teacher and helping them win a big singing competition.  “Never Should’ve Let You Go” first debuted on the movie’s soundtrack and then appeared as the opening track on Hi-Five’s third album Faithful.  The song hit #30 on the Billboard Hot 100.  The music video for the song featured clips from the movie and was also directed by Marcus Nispel, who later went on to direct the 2003 version of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and the 2009 Friday the 13th.  Check out the video for “Never Should’ve Let You Go” below.
