Musical Montage: The Black Keys “Howlin for You”

Seemingly taking a page from Grindhouse, which opened a few years earlier in 2007, The Black Keys went full retro exploitation style for the 2011 music video for their song “Howlin’ For You” by making it a fake movie trailer starring Tricia Helfer.  Helfer plays Alexa Wolff, whose father was murdered when she was a young girl and she sets out on a lifelong quest for revenge, using her incredible beauty to seduce and kill anyone in her way, including Shaun White(?).  Sean Patrick Flanery is Kennedy, who Alexa falls in love with but is actually the man who killed her father.  Diora Baird, Todd Bridges, Christian Serratos, and Corbin Bernsen co-star along with The Black Keys themselves, Patrick J. Carney and Dan Auerbach. Honest Trailer voice Jon Bailey provides the over-the-top trailer voiceover. The song was the second single released from the band’s Brothers album, after “Tighten Up” and was a hit on the Billboard Alternative and Rock charts.  The song has also appeared in tons of movie trailers and video games since its release, including Need for Speed Payback, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Dark Shadows, Limitless, Deadpool, Moneyball, and more.  Check out the music video below.
