Gran Turismo Gets Real in August (Trailer)
Taking a cue from the recent Tetris movie, the upcoming movie version of Gran Turismo is based on true events and tells the story of professional race driver Jann Mardenborough, who won a Gran Turismo competition in 2011 to become a member of Team Nissan. Archie Madekwe, recently seen in See, Midsommar, and Voyagers, plays Mardenborough, who is a Gran Turismo superfan but his dreams of actually becoming a real-life race driver seem impossible until he finds out about the Gran Turismo “GT Academy” competition and joins the group competing for a shot at translating their video game skills to a real car. Orland Bloom plays marketing executive Danny Moore, based on real-life GT Academy founder Danny Cox, while David Harbour plays Jack Salter, who’s tasked with training the gamers and turning them into real drivers. Djimon Hounsou and Geri Halliwell co-star as Jann’s parents. Neill Blomkamp is directing, moving away from his more sci-fi and horror-focused projects but hopefully, he’ll be able to deliver some cool and exciting racing sequences. Gran Turismo is out on August 11th and you can check out the trailer below.
