Everything Action Theater: Nemesis

An over-the-top classic from the late Albert Pyun, you can watch Nemesis in the newest Everything Action Theater.  Released in 1992, Nemesis stars Olivier Gruner as Alex Rain, a bounty hunter/assassin working for the LAPD in 2027.  Sent on a mission to take down his former partner and lover, Jared (Marjorie Monaghan), Alex discovers a plot to replace humans with fully cybernetic androids and joins a resistance group to stop them.  Tim Thomerson, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Deborah Shelton, Thomas Jane, Brion James, and Thom Matthews co-star and the movie is full of John Woo-inspired shootouts and insane practical effects inspired by Terminator and Robocop.  A sequence where Alex shoots a ring around himself with a machine gun and falls through the floor of a building to escape goons seems like it was the inspiration for a similar scene in Underworld (which just celebrated its 20th anniversary this week).  The movie also spawned a series with Pyun returning to direct all but the fifth entry, Nemesis 5: The New Model, which was released in 2017.  You can watch Nemesis below thanks to YouTube.
