Everything Action Theater: Night of the Comet
An 80s horror cult classic, you can watch Night of the Comet in the latest Everything Action Theater. Starring Catherine Mary Stewart and Kelli Maroney as sisters, they are some of the few survivors left when a comet passes by Earth and irradiates the planet’s surface, turning anyone not protected by a steel building into either a pile of dust or ravenous zombies. The movie was released in 1984 and was a hit, earning $14.4 million on a budget of only $700,000. Thomas Eberhardt directed the movie and would later go on to direct movies like Honey, I Blew Up the Kid, and Captain Ron. The movie has become a cult classic and is credited with being an inspiration for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, with its typical teenage girls who are thrust into battling supernatural forces premise. There is supposedly a remake in the works at the revived Orion Pictures but there haven’t been any updates since January of this year, when writer Roxanne Benjamin said the remake was still in development and she had submitted a script.
