Netflix Brings Avatar: The Last Airbender to Live Action (Again) in February (Trailer)

The original Avatar: The Last Airbender animated series is one of the most beloved shows of all time. The last time there was an attempt to adapt it to live-action was the horrifically awful M. Night Shyamalan movie.  Netflix hopes they’ll have better luck with a new live-action series in February.  Gordon Cormier stars as Aang, the Avatar and last living Airbender, who must learn to master the power to bend all four of the main elemental forces (Air, Water, Earth, and Fire) to maintain the balance between them and stop the world-conquering ambitions of the Fire Nation.  Kiawentiio, Ian Ousley, Dallas Liu, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, Daniel Dae Kim, Ken Leung, Maria Zhang and Elizabeth Yu co-star.  One worrying element of the new series is that original Avatar show creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko were initially on board to showrun this adaptation but left due to conflicts with Netflix.  On the flip side, Netflix’s adaptation of One Piece has been well-received by fans and critics alike, so hopefully Avatar can follow suit.  The show arrives on Netflix on February 22nd and you can check out the trailer below.
