Chris Pratt is Garfield in May (Trailer)

Chris Pratt is going from one of the world’s most famous Italians to one of the world’s most famous eaters of Italian food when The Garfield Movie hits theaters next summer.  Pratt is voicing Garfield and the movie sees Garfield’s deadbeat dad Vic (Samuel L. Jackson) returning to Garfield’s life, who ends up dragging Garfield and Odie into a wacky adventure.  Hannah Waddingham, Ving Rhames, Nicholas Hoult, Cecily Strong, Harvey Guillén, Brett Goldstein, and Bowen Yang co-star.  The movie is directed by Mark Dindal, who is probably best known for directing The Emperor’s New Groove along with Chicken Little and Cats Don’t Dance.  The animation style looks good but it’s odd to hear Pratt’s voice coming out of Garfield, even more so than Mario, as it’s so innately tied to Lorenzo Music and, to a lesser extent, Bill Murray.  The Garfield Movie is out on May 24th next year and you can check out the trailer below.
