The Wages of Fear Explodes on Netflix in March (Trailer)

The 1950 French novel The Wages of Fear has seen several adaptations over the years and Netflix is bringing a new version to their service in March.  When an oil well catches fire, fed by an underground pocket of gas, the only way to stop the fire and seal the well is to blow it up with nitroglycerin.  A crew is assembled to make the perilous journey via truck to the well and deliver the explosives.  Both the 1953 film and William Friedkin’s 1977 film Sorceror are considered masterpieces and some of the best films ever made, so the bar is set extremely high and this version seems extremely generic and more of a standard action movie.  Franck Gastambide, Alban Lenoir, Ana Girardot, and Sofiane Zermani co-star, and the movie is directed by Julien Leclercq.  Leclercq previously directed 2010’s The Assault and the 2018 JCVD movie The Bouncer.  The Wages of Fear hits Netflix on March 29th and you can check out the trailer below.
