Borderlands Bursts Into Theaters in August (Trailer)
In development for years, Borderlands is finally transitioning from video games to movies in August with the live-action adaptation from Eli Roth. Cate Blanchett stars as Lilith, a bounty hunter hired by wealthy corporate overlord Atlas (Edgar Ramirez) to find his missing daughter on the lawless planet of Pandora. Arriving on world, Lilith teams up with a ragtag group of misfits including Tiny Tina (Ariana Greenblatt), Tannis (Jamie Lee Curtis), Roland (Kevin Hart), Tiny Tina’s mute bodyguard Krieg (Florian Munteanu), and Claptrap (Jack Black). Along with searching for the missing girl, the group searches for a legendary treasure vault that many “vault hunters” have tried and failed to find. Gina Gershon (playing Mad Moxxi), Haley Bennet, Javina Gavankar, and Bobby Lee are also featured in the movie. Aside from obviously not featuring the game’s voice cast, this looks pretty faithful to the style and tone of the game series. Hopefully, it’s more toward The Last of Us/Twisted Metal/Sonic the Hedgehog end of the spectrum for video game adaptations. Borderlands is out on August 9th and you can check out the trailer below.
